# Astrologue website

The Astrologue operating system's website — a fusion of the two designs kept
in this repository: the layout and craft of the AI-generated proposal, re-themed
as a *medieval sky* almanac around the real branding, photography, and voice of
the original site.

`Original/` and `Proposed/` are kept for reference only; the site lives at the
repository root.

## Deploy

There is no build step. Copy (or serve) the repository root:

    rsync -av --exclude Original --exclude Proposed ./ user@host:/srv/www/astrologue/

Any static file server will do. The site makes **zero external requests** —
fonts are local, images are local — so it works offline and on community
networks as-is. All links are page-relative, so the tree can be deployed
at any URL path (document root or a subdirectory) without modification.

## Conventions

- Hand-written HTML and CSS, one shared stylesheet, no JavaScript.
- Light and dark schemes are automatic (`prefers-color-scheme`); the logo
  swaps variants with the scheme.
- Content is honest by rule: no invented releases, dates, hashes, or news.
  News is an explicit empty state until there is news; download rows are
  commented templates until there are artifacts.
- Fonts are subset with pyftsubset from the OFL upstreams (Cinzel and
  EB Garamond); keep the licence files beside them.

## Licence

The site is free software: GPL-3.0-or-later (see `LICENSE`). Fonts are
redistributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (see `assets/fonts/`).
